Brett Zbar’s New Role

We are excited at the news that our longtime colleague and former managing director, Dr. Brett Zbar, has today announced a new role as managing director and global head of life sciences at General Atlantic. We believe there is incredible potential for Brett to run this new standalone sector under General Atlantic’s growth investment platform, and we look forward to working together as co-investors and colleagues in the years to come. 

I first met Brett while he was a medical student looking for career advice. 18 years later, we started working together and the last 5 years have been a great ride. He is a broadly valued, trusted partner who brings together a broad network of investors and entrepreneurs. 

Our firm’s leadership team has expanded recently with the addition of Dr. Michael Rome this year and Dr. Vikram Bajaj in 2017. Together, we have a deep combination of expertise to identify and support the next generation of healthcare entrepreneurs, particularly those focusing on precision medicine and the broader application of data to biology and healthcare. 

One of the most rewarding aspects of founding and running a business is the impact on the careers of our employees and partners. I am proud of the work Brett and I have done together, and of the fact that we have helped lay the foundation for his future roles in life sciences investing.
